Optimization of Operational Parameters of a Vacuum Single-Seed Planter for Sowing of Maize

The objective of the study was to evaluate performance a vacuum single-seed planter in field conditions optimize some operating parameters maize production. Three forward speed tractor (4.0, 5.4 and 7.9 km h-1) five target seed spacing (102, 147, 195, 247 309 mm) were evaluated by examining mean spacing, coefficient precision miss index, multiple quality feed sowing depth, deviation from row (inter-row spacing), emergence time, rate index percentage emergence. point dropped furrow seed, depth placement, three indices uniformity coefficients determined. performed best at lowest highest spacing. However, seeds intended intra-row significantly affected only (P<0.001). Improvement larger due lower variation. Increasing resulted shallower depth. desired planting also obtained 4.0 h-1 all plots. increased percent about 35% while increasing decreased 10%. Sowing miss, (5.1% 2.9%, 15.3%, respectively), as high 92% similar conditions. results indicated that, with planters, success may be achieved conventional tillage production system more than 102 mm speeds less h-1, thus satisfying farmers who carry out tillage.
